Emi had just moved in to her new flat, and the walls were completely empty. She commissioned me to make her a big painting, with tons of colour, to fill up the space. The only wish she had was that I would include a certain shade of green. The other colours were selected around this.
As Emi is a big fan of punk rock and other loud music, my first thought was ‘noise’. This lead to the idea of the somewhat chaotic mix of patterns, shapes, and colours, and the screaming person, cawing crow, and the squawking seagull. They ended up being a metaphor for internal noise that comes from not giving yourself the attention and peace you need -not feeding the birds-.
